The Italian Air Force – Department of Meteorology, the Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) and EUMETSAT are pleased to invite candidates to participate at the “International Summer School on Applications with the Newest Multi-spectral Environmental Satellites”, to be held in Bracciano, Italy from 6 to 15 June 2016.

The objectives and agenda of the programme of the course is attached for more information.

The course will be conducted in English. The participants must have an academic degree either in Meteorology, Physics, Environmental Sciences or Environmental Engineering. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their proven experiences in environmental remote sensing and their curriculum vitae that can be sent by fax to EUMETSAT to the number +49-6151 807 3040.

EUMETSAT will provide financial support to a limited number of the selected candidates upon their request to cover their travel expenses.

All participants are strongly advised to take out personal travel and medical insurance. No responsibility for any incident during the course can be accepted by EUMETSAT or the local organisers.

In order to apply for the course, you need to complete the “Apply for Summer School” form. Note that to access the form you must have an account in the EUMETSAT Training Zone website.

Log in to the website (if requested press “Continue”)

  • If you have an account, insert the username and password on the left hand side and press LOGIN. Enrol yourself by clicking on “Apply for Courses” (upper right corner); then click on “Apply for Summer School 2016”.
  • If you are a new user, click “Create new account” on the right, insert your data, create an account and then login. Click “Continue”. Check your email and confirm your account. Continue like described above.

Applications have to be submitted no later than 8 April 2016. Selected participants will be informed about their acceptance no later than 15 April 2016. Should the selected participant require an invitation letter in order to obtain her/his visa to Italy, please contact directly Mr. Francesco MONTANARO (francesco.montanaro@aeronautica.difesa.it) from ItAF.
